Cinque Ferro

Five Ferro’s, the metal S on the front of a Gondola, designed to protect the bow of the boat. Capello del Doge forms the top with Riallto bridge beneath, then the six tines, or prongs representing the six districts of Venice. The three decorative scrolls seen between the tines on some of the boats represents three islands in the Venetian Lagoon. The overall shape symbolises the Grand canal.
