Roman Walls

Windows, shutters, lamps and architectural details found on buildings in the city of Rome, Italy.
The walls are painted in wonderful shades of terracotta and other pastel tones, weathered and deteriorated most display a patina of city life built up over a number of years.
An iconic Italian feature that passers-by notice but may not appreciate in terms of artistic charm.
These photographs were taken over a seven day period during the month of August when many of the residents leave town for their annual holidays, this creates a mix of open and closed wooden shutters on the facades of apartments that overlook the tourist filled streets beneath them.
