Ullswater Lost Trees
Trees near the shoreline of Ullswater in the English Lake District national park, when levels are high the they become partly submerged into the lake. These photographs were taken on a very cold and wet winter morning as the rain fell, a combination of misty conditions and long exposure times has smoothed the surface of the water and shows the trees as silhouettes against the Cumbrian mountains seen in the background.
Presented in black and white to emphasise the shape and structure of the subject.
In the winter storms of 2015/16 this part of Cumbria fell victim to heavy flooding during which time some buildings, bridges and unfortunately these trees were washed away forever.
-This series was awarded an Honorable Mention in the International Photography Awards 2016-
